Sally Joyce Rees Cook

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, died Saturday, January 4, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. Sally was 82, a resident of Baton Rouge, and a native of Nederland, Texas. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Monday, January 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 7, from 11 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She lost her husband of 53 years, James "Roy" Cook in June 2006. Survived by son and daughter-in-law David Cook and Rachel Genovese Cook of Baton Rouge; daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Terry Simon of Greensboro, NC; daughter and son-in-law Kitty and Kenny Chatelain of Washington, DC; brother Sherwood Rees of Port Arthur, TX; sister and brother-in-law Edna Earle and Elvin Estes of Austin, TX; brother-in-law Bobby Joe Cook of Port Neches, TX; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Trisha Jarreau, husband Jeremy and children Braiden and Kinley; Laura Smith, husband Jon and his son Silas; Michael Simon and wife Jill; Jennifer Simon, and Alison Simon. Preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anaise Rees, sister and brother-in-law Gertie and Lawrence Radcliff; sister-in-law Charlene Rees; sister-in-law Pat Cook; brother and sister-in-laws Pete and Vivian Cook; brother and sister-in-laws Buddy and Wanda Cook.
