Russell Paul Cook, Sr. passed away at home Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the age of 70. He was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Thibodaux. He was a Retired Trooper with the Louisiana State Police, Troop A; a Vietnam Veteran, Platoon Commander 101st Airborne Division, I Corps Vietnam 1968; the founder and creator of ROCO Rescue. He was also a Master Mason in good standing for more than 25 years. Always enjoying the freedom of the open road and the camaraderie of brotherhood; he was a member and past president of the Iron Warriors- Central Chapter. As a LSU Alumni and a die-hard fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Tigers. Russell Paul Cook Sr. was a husband, a father, a paw paw, and a friend, but most of all he was a protector of those he loved. He had a heart of gold and a passion for life. He is survived by his wife Franziska Casey Cook, and his children; daughter Renee Cook Cameron, son Lt. Col. Russell Paul Cook Jr and his wife Stephanie Cook, daughter Stacy Fremin Rand and husband Damon Rand, son Jason Martin and wife Danielle Martin, grandchildren; Sean Douglas, Morgan Renee, Natalie Michelle, Justice, Kamryn, Shelby, Jason Jr., Amber, Natalie, and Sage, great grandson Aaron, sisters; Judy Sylvest Cook, Star Steward Cook, brothers; Horice H.L. Cook, Carl Leon Cook. He was preceded in death by his father Russell Leon Cook, mother Genevieve Sears Cook, and sister Marryanna Cook. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East 11000 Florida Blvd., Tuesday, March 01, 2016 starting at 5pm until 9pm. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning at 10am until services at noon in the funeral home chapel conducted by Rev. Matthew McCaughey. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Iron Warriors- Central Chapter.
