Raymond Albert Theriot

"Raymond Albert Theriot, 84, passed from this world and into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Ray was born on April 15, 1934 in Erath, Louisiana, the first child of Rene' Moreau Theriot and Christine Muzar Theriot. He lived most of his adult life in Baton Rouge, and retired from Crown Zellerbach (now James River Corp.) with 30 years of service.  Ray graduated from West Columbia High School, in West Columbia, Texas, class of 1952 and enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving active duty from 1953-1961, and reserve duty from 1961-1965 . He was a proud graduate of the Baton Rouge Police Academy and served as a Baton Rouge City Policeman for several years after leaving the Air Force. Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  A former member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Slaughter, Louisiana, where he served as Deacon, Ray was a current member of Sherwood Baptist Church. He loved gardening, fishing, and sports. He could often be found at area baseball parks watching his sons and then his grandsons play, and was an avid fan of LSU Baseball. Ray was happily married to the love of his life, Roma Nell Miller Theriot, for 64 years.   He is survived by his wife Roma, daughter Rebecca Lynn Theriot Van Deutekom (Mike) of Punta Gorda, Florida; two sons, Randall Rene' Theriot (Mary Thorne) and Rodney Albert Theriot (Lynn Gregoire), both of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, Scott Wesley Theriot (Julie), Ryan Stewart Theriot (Johnnah), and Austin Thorne Theriot of Baton Rouge; Heather Lynn Van Deutekom Wischropp (Adam) of Longmont, Colorado, Adam Michael Van Deutekom (Ali) of Frederick, Colorado, and Danielle Christine Theriot Bennett (David) of Zachary, Louisiana; thirteen great- grandchildren, Kate Theriot, Reese Emily Theriot, Houston Theriot, Macey Theriot, Georgia Theriot, Sloan Wischropp, Everly Van Deutekom, Brooks Van Deutekom, Ruby Bennett, Olive Bennett, Allye Pizzalatto, Morgan Pizzalatto, and Dylan Pizzalatto; sisters Loretta Davis (J.T.) and Patricia Hristopolous (George); sister-in-law Sherry Theriot; brother Robert Theriot (Linda); and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.  Ray is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronnie Theriot. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana at 9:00 a.m., with religious services to follow at 11:00. Interment at Line Creek Cemetery, Kentwood, Louisiana. Pallbearers will be Wes Theriot, Ryan Theriot, Austin Theriot, Adam Van Deutekom, Mike Van Deutekom, and David Bennett. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Mann, Jimmy Thaxton, Donald Wilson, Gerald Flowers, Steven Miller, and Joe Cox. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Clarity Hospice for their gentle and loving care. We will miss you, Baby.
