Rachel Babin, a native of Baton Rouge, passed away at her home in St. Gabriel on Thursday morning, October 22, 2015, at the age of 35. Rachel was an elementary school teacher at Central Primary in Gonzales. She was a graduate of Louisiana State University, receiving her degree in Education. She was a member of the Junior League, was a parishioner at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and was a member of their prayer group .Rachel is survived by her husband, Dane Babin; and by her sons, Drew (10) and Ben (4), all of St. Gabriel. She is also survived by her mother and stepfather, Janelle and Bill Parker of Covington; her father and stepmother, Francis "Plugga" and Lona Gros of St. Gabriel; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sally and Al Babin of Geismar; sisters-in-law, Christa Marshall of Austin, TX and Adele Lee of Prairieville; by her grandfather, Ovide Schexnayder of Walker; and step-grandparents, D.D. and Lois Spivey of Jarreau. Rachel was preceded in death by her grandmother, Edith Marshall Schexnayder; and by her mother-in-law, Jane Head Babin. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., from 10am until Memorial Mass at 12pm, concelebrated by Rev. Joshua Johnson and Rev. Charlie Landry. Rachel's family would like to express their thanks to the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and School communities for their care and support.
