"Nancy Winebrenner McCracken, originally of Huntington, Indiana and a resident of Baton Rouge since 1968, passed away peacefully at the Pearl of Jamestown Memory Center in Baton Rouge on January 15, 2017. Nancy was born on March 25, 1927 in Huntington, Indiana, and was a 1945 graduate of Huntington High School and a 1949 graduate of Indiana Central College in Indianapolis, Indiana where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Nancy was an accomplished and prolific needlework artist. She was an avid reader and cookie eater who loved playing Canasta, and was the last original member of a group of ladies who began playing together in the 1990's. Nancy was especially proud of the fact that all four of her children are LSU graduates. In 1970, Nancy worked for Gator Plastics in Baton Rouge which was followed in 1975 by more than seventeen years of employment at Ramsay Scarlett and Company in Port Allen, Louisiana. She was a member of University Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge for nearly 49 years. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Fred E. and Celia Winebrenner of Huntington, Indiana, her sister Mary Ann Winebrenner Dalton Rickert of Greenwood, Indiana, and her former husband Dr. Philip G. McCracken of Greensboro, North Carolina. She is survived by her son Michael McCracken and daughter-in-law Patricia of Georgetown, Texas, daughter Barbara Nester of Amarillo, Texas, daughter Susan Curry and son-in-law James, of Richmond, Texas, and daughter Peggy Sheets and son-in-law Neal of Baton Rouge. Also surviving Nancy are her two grandchildren, Erin Curry of Richmond, Texas and Holly Eisenzimmer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and great grandson Gavin Eisenzimmer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The family suggests memorials be to University Presbyterian Church, 3240 Dalrymple Dr., Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802. A memorial service in which Nancy's life will be celebrated and remembered will take place at University Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge on March 18, 2017 at 11 a.m.
