Bells rang for Mary Margaret LoBianco Valentine on November 19, 2021, extolling her peaceful death following years of enduring progressive lung disease, from a prior battle with breast cancer. She was brought into this world alongside her twin brother, Joseph Raymond, on June 3, 1940, by the late Vincent Matthews and Mary Theresa Maggio LoBianco of Baton Rouge. She graduated from Baton Rouge High School, attended LSU, married, had two sons, became a single parent, and worked hard for her family.
Mary Margaret spent much of her life working as a Sheriff’s Deputy for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. She is most remembered as a beauty queen representing Louisiana in the 1959 Miss USA Pageant and being capable of lighting up any atmosphere with her radiance, her smile, and her mordant wit. She enjoyed reading, animals (especially dogs), and loved American blues, jazz, and gospel music. She was also an avid lover of Hollywood and could be counted on to settle in to re-watch a “golden oldie.”
Mary Margaret will be missed by many, notably her brothers, Joseph and Gerald LoBianco, and her sons, Vincent (Cathy) of Houston, Texas, and Raymond (Kathleen), of Charlotte, North Carolina. Mary Margaret will also be remembered by her nephew, Nicholas (Lauren) LoBianco of Baton Rouge, and her granddaughters: Kristen (Jeff) Oalmann of Gonzales, Louisiana; Emily, Madelyn, Olivia, and Mary Grace, and her great grandsons: Devin, Dylan, and Brenan Oalmann. She was affectionally known to all of them as “M&M” or “MNO.”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Rabenhorst Funeral Home downtown, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge. A visitation on Saturday, December 4, 2021 beginning at 9:00 am will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., Baton Rouge with followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Internment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge.
