"Mary "Polly", a resident and native of Baton Rouge, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 06, 2017, at the age of 75. She is survived by a sister, Esther S. Frier of Longview, TX; a brother, William L. Stirling and his wife Bobbie Jean of Greensboro, NC; two sons, William "Bill" Root and wife Robin of Lafayette, LA, and David Root of Pembroke Pines, FL; grandsons, Stirling, Alexander, Jackson and Nicolas; and close friend, Judith Standley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard P. Root, Jr.; and parents, Ruffin G. and Esther G. Stirling. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Sunday, Sept. 10, from 6 pm until 8 pm and resumes on Monday, Sept. 11, from 10 am until memorial service at 11 am.
