A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Mary Jane Lyons Gelpi died October 15, 2021. She was born on August 22, 1939, and was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, a 1957 graduate of lstrouma High School, and a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rupert and Frances Lyons and brother, Floyd Lyons. She is survived by her husband of 59 and ½ years, George; her 3 sons, George, Jr. of Las Vegas, Chris of McKinney, TX, Greg (Nancy) of Augusta, GA; her 2 daughters, Deborah Gelpi of Kona, HI and Kathleen Gelpi of Baton Rouge; 3 grandchildren, Alyson Farmer of McKinney, TX, Cheyenne Gelpi of Waco, TX and Collin Gelpi of Augusta, GA. She loved shopping and collecting antique items and nativity sets. She loved helping people and never met a stranger. There will be a visitation at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 20, at 9 am until Mass at 11. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Thomas More Catholic Church or to Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area.
