Marvin L. Davis, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at the age of 88. Mr. Davis was a plumber/pipefitter, a retired gold card member of Local 198 and retired from the State Plumbing Board as a special investigator. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army 25th Division in Japan and a member of the Knights of Columbus #3298. Marvin loved to hunt and fish all his life, was a softball pitcher and played basketball for many years. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 5pm until 9pm with a rosary service at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at St. Isidore Catholic Church from 10am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am officiated by Rev. Frank Bass. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosa Amorello Davis, a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick Davis and Gwen Cunningham, a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Tim Samaha, four grandchildren, Michael Davis and wife Resa, Donielle Brown, Matthew Davis, and Timmy Samaha and wife Amber, and seven great-grandchildren, John, Brock, Shelby, Sarah, Bill, Lucy Ann, and Jonathan. Also survived by his God children, Brad Smith, Val Joseph Saurage, Tim Bonaventure, Cindy Guichet, and Mary Rose LeSage. Preceded in death by parents, Richmond Peler and Lou Annie Bell Davis, granddaughter, Tricia Davis, brothers, Johnny W., Ernest, James R., and Ray Davis, and sisters, Lula Davis, May Pino, Addie Guichet, Ollie Longuepee, Willie Sullivan, Lucille Belasky, and Anna Fay Burris. Pallbearers will be Stacy, Steve and Stuart Duke, Delery Davis, Bubby Johnson, Teddy Belasky and James R. Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be J.R. Bonaventure, Emmitt Smith, Paul Curtis, Bobby Longuepee, Melvin Guichet, and Sidney Sullivan, Jr.
