Martha Lee Castille Legere, a resident of Port Allen, passed away at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, October 8 at 4:10pm surrounded by the family she loved so much. Born in Lafayette, LA on March 9, 1928, she was 86. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress, and an avid gardener, always tending her flowers and fruit trees. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing and traveling. Martha retired from Baton Rouge General Hospital/General Health Corp. with 28 years of service. She was the Payroll Supervisor at the time of her retirement. Martha is survived by her daughters, Mary Patricia Hymel Martin, of League City, TX and Linda Legere Tomchek (Stephen), of Baton Rouge; Step-son, James "Red" Legere of Plaquemine; Grandchildren, Ray Andrus, Jr., Lauren Michelle Tomchek, and Alexandra Danielle Tomchek; Step-grandchildren, Allen Joseph Legere, Jr., Lanissa Lee Legere, and Lovis Legere Buckheister; one great-grandson and numerous step-great- grandchildren. Survived also by a special cousin, Mary Louise Cormier Boudreaux. She was preceded in death by her parents, Belle Cormier Castille Daigle and Felix Joseph Castille; husband, Hypolite Legere; step-son, Allen Joseph Legere, Sr and his wife, Marie Martin Legere. She was also preceded by her special aunt and uncle, Constance and Anatole Cormier. Visiting will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, Saturday, October 11 from 10am till funeral service at 2pm. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Martha was a 4-year resident of Old Jefferson Community Care Center and the family would like to thank the staff for their loving care.
