First and foremost, Marian loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Gonzales Church of Christ. She graduated from Port Allen High School in 1959. Marian was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her four children, traveling with family and friends and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all of their many endeavors. Her grandchildren would tell you she was quite competitive when it came to board games and took pride in ensuring that everyone played by the rules. At Christmas time, Marian looked forward to the annual Simpson family gumbo. She was an avid LSU football and baseball fan, cheering on the Tigers every time they took the field. Later in life, she enjoyed driving a school bus for a Baton Rouge private school. Marian was a very talented home decorator with a special eye for detail.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ed Hackler; daughters, Melinda Carter (Tom), Tammy Mulkey (Tracy) and Kristie Hackler; son, Todd Hackler (Stephanie); brothers, Errol Simpson (Barbara), and Donald Simpson (Carol Dee); grandchildren, Mandy Hawkins, Tyler Carter (Jessica), Chandler Mulkey, Cole Mulkey, Madison Hackler, Samantha Rushing (Dustin), and Allie Hackler; great-grandchildren, Carter State, Granger Hawkins, Rivers Carter, Everett Hawkins, Finley Carter and Tucker Carter.
