Malcolm Stein Jr., 79, a native of Madisonville, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. He began his schooling at St. Paul’s Catholic School in Madisonville until he graduated from high school and entered the U.S. Navy. After returning from his duty, Malcolm entered LSU and graduated in 1960. Upon graduation, he immediately went to work for Piccadilly Cafeteria in Baton Rouge. He was then promoted to General Manager in Monroe, LA where he was also a member, Director, President and Lifetime member of the Jaycees and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. His next promotion led him to become the Executive Vice President and District Manager of the Houston Area for Piccadilly. He soon returned to Baton Rouge with another promotion to the Corporate Office as Executive Vice President of Technical Services. His next promotion was to Regional Manager and then to Senior Executive Vice President over Restaurant Division when Piccadilly bought Ralph and Kacoos. In 1992, Malcolm was named General Manager and COO of Piccadilly and then in 1993 was named President and COO until his retirement in 1995 from the company. He was a member of the Piccadilly Board of Directors from 1964-1995; member of the Louisiana Restaurant Association and member of their Board of Directors; member of the Baton Rouge Red Cross Board of Directors; member of the Baton Rouge YMCA Board of Directors; and member of the Rotary Club. After his retirement, Malcolm’s greatest joy was spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. He was also a member and President of the Jamestowne Court Homeowners Association. He is survived by his son, Malcolm Stein, III and wife Jodi; grandchildren: Malcolm IV, Justin, and Alexandra Stein; and sister, Beverly Stein of Madisonville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Neva Stein; parents, Malcolm and Stella Stein; and sister, Connie Stein Davis. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 5pm until 9pm and continuing on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 8am until services at 10am. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mike Harvey, L.J. Springer, John R. Perez, Wick Goldsmith, Pat Pruhomme and Gregory Feld.
