Kathy Kinsley Edgens

Kathy was a 1984 graduate of Baker High School and received her nursing degree in 1993. She spent her professional career in the nursing field for 32 years caring for others. She also served her community for many years as a softball coach and a Central High School athletic volunteer. However, her greatest joy was her family. Her children were her pride and joy, and she took great delight in guiding and supporting them into adulthood. Her most recent blessing was the arrival of her two grandsons born just 9 days apart.

Kathy also loved to cook and was happiest when she shared her meals with others. She enjoyed LSU Woman’s Basketball, all things Christmas, traveling, fishing, Mardi Gras, but most of all, spending time with family and friends. Kathy will be deeply missed, but her legacy of serving others and deep love of family leaves a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. The family would like to thank Dr. Gerald Miletello and all medical staff at Our Lady of the Lake and Hospice of Baton Rouge for their love and care.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Edgens; two children, Hunter R. Edgens (Bailey) and Heather L. Edgens Thibodeaux (Dylan); 5 grandchildren, Easton, Greyson, Abel, Marleigh, and Annalise; mother, Sue-Don Peel Kinsley; sister, Susan Kinsley Kolb; and her brother, Charles T. Kinsley, Jr. (Royeann). She is preceded in death by her father, Charles T. Kinsley, Sr.; brother-in-law, Hubert F. Kolb, Jr.; and grandparents, Susie and Donald Peel.

A visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 5 pm until 8 pm and will resume on Saturday at Blackwater United Methodist Church, 10000 Blackwater Rd, Baker, LA from 10 am until funeral services at 11 am.
