John Daniel Taylor, 91, a native of Slagel, LA and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2013 at The Carpenter House. “Mr. John” as he was known by many was an honorable man and was a greatly loved husband by his late wife, June Rolland Taylor. They were married in Hollywood, CA and were married for 68 years. He is survived by his son: William Rolland Taylor and wife Betty of St. Amant, LA; and daughter Susan Taylor Beam and husband Michael of Spring, TX. Mr. John had four grandchildren: William “Ron” Taylor and wife Kaley, John Daniel Taylor, Jason Taylor Beam and wife Brooke, and Regan Taylor Scott and husband Shane. He was blessed with six great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Kaitlin, Alexis, Austin Taylor and Chase Taylor of Baton Rouge, LA; Brody and Beau Scott of Beaverton, Oregon. John was a graduate of Istrouma High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served his country during World War II in the Philippines. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 38 for 53 years and a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He retired from Allied Chemical and began his second career as a designer and builder of beautiful cypress furniture. His life will be celebrated at a graveside ceremony at Greenoaks Memorial Park on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 10:00 am. The service will be officiated by Pastor Dave Buss of Trinity Lutheran Church who served John and family throughout his life and illness. We thank the many wonderful doctors, nurses and caregivers who guided the family through this journey. Memorials for Mr. John Taylor may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church in his memory and to the glory of God.
