John Herman Stroderd, native of Basile, La and resident of Baton Rouge, La passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the age of 79. Herman was the owner Murray’s Central Pharmacy. He was an active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He participated in the Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus Council 2807, and the St. Alphonsus Food Pantry. He was a regular volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy. He was a handyman who enjoyed cutting grass, riding on his tractor and doing woodwork.Herman is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mildred Hebert Stroderd; five children, Cindi Schlatre and husband, Mike, Ena Aucoin, Dr. Damian Stroderd and wife Debbie, Allison Istas and husband, Roger, Suzonne Horning and husband, Gary; 13 grandchildren, Dr. Emelie (Ray) McLellam, Beau (Kim) Schlatre, Logan Schlatre, Lori Beth Stroderd, Ben Stroderd, Zoe Istas, Oscar Istas, Phoebe Istas, Moira Istas, Katelyn Marchand, Rebecca Marchand, Jacob Marchand, and Joshua Marchand; three great grandchildren, Laurel Schlatre, Drake Schlatre, and Liam McLellam; six siblings, Allen (Joan) Stroderd, Ruth (Ronald) Pousson, Joseph Stroderd,Jr., Winston (Beverly) Stroderd, Henry (Susie) Stroderd, Barbara (Johnny) Hoffpauir; and extended family members, John and Betty McGilvery, Tim and Debbie Boles, Ashley Johansen, and Micah Schlatre. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph Elson and Mary Ena Stroderd and siblings, Edison, Patrick, Thomas, and Debbie Lou. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Beau Schlatre, Logan Schlatre, Ben Stroderd, Oscar Istas, Jacob Marchand, and Joshua Marchand. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray McLellam and Micah Schlatre. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visitation on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. -9:00p.m. at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, La 70815. On Friday, September 9, 2016 visitation will be held at St. Louis King of France, 2121 N.Sherwood Forest Dr., at 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Chrisitan Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
