Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” –Proverbs 31:29-30 Jemima Brent Smith passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at the age of 87. She was a native of Amite County, MS and was a long-time resident of Greenwell Springs, LA. She was raised in Bogue Chitto, MS and graduated from Bogue Chitto High School. She worked for Robert Hall clothing store for 14 years, Dillard’s department store for 10 years and Sam’s Club for several years. She was our faithful prayer warrior who loved the Lord and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Her biggest joy in life was her family and especially her grandchildren. Jemima is survived by sons, Dennis and wife, Cindy, Ira Brent “Butch”, Greg and wife, Sylvia, Tracy, Flint and wife, Susan, and Randy and wife, Kathy; 20 grandchildren, Lori Ordoyne, Nicole Colkmire, Natalie Walker, Jaclyn Allen, Cindy Boudreaux, Cori Jo Marcus, Derek Truax, Shannon Cummings, Heidi McClure, Hollie Price, Kacie Sullivan, Kayla and Tanner Smith, Brandy, Britney, Brianna and Brooke Smith, Nicholas Smith, Grace Manzella and Drew Smith; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Brent McGraw; brothers, Fred Brent, Jr. and wife, Dollie, Jerry Joe Brent and wife, Shirley, and Jakie Brent and wife, Audrey; and numerous other family members. She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Dennis Smith, Sr.; daughter, Sheila Smith; parents, Fred and Rena Wilkinson Brent; and brother-in-law, Tally McGraw. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, from 5:00PM to 9:00PM. Visitation will resume at Greenoaks on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, from 9:00AM until time of funeral services at 10:00AM. The service will be officiated by Pastor Kelly Sullivan. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Pall bearers will be Destin Melvin, Derek Truax, Kevin Walker, Todd McClure, Justin Price, Tanner Smith, Daniel Melvin, Brody Flint Smith and Derrick Lee Abshire.
