Janet M. Marquette, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 8, 2010. She died peacefully in her sleep. Janet worked as a health-care benefits administrator and actively served in many charitable groups. She was an officer of the Exchange Club of Baton Rouge, division director of the TX LA Gulf Coast District Exchange Clubs, treasurer of the Inter-Civic Council of Baton Rouge and a member of the Bengal Belles. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Dec. 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, Dec. 11. Entombment will be in Greenoaks Mausoleum. She is survived by a sister, Bonita Marquette Bradberry; a brother, Charles Marquette Jr. and his wife, Suzanne; and devoted nephews and nieces, Christopher Long, Michael Marquette, Aimee Chellew and Lindsay Marquette; and great-nephews, Taylor and Calen Chellew. She loved them all dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Marquette Sr. and Lillian Gregoire Marquette. Always smiling, Janet never met a stranger and lit up every room she entered. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
