Ilan Joel Guerin

Ilan Joel Guerin was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on October 24, 2017, at Ochsner Hospital of Baton Rouge. At the age 6 months Ilan was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome (Epilepsy). Despite his many challenges Ilan was a happy child and continued to show a zest for life! He was intelligent and carried the nickname “Baby Genius” which is what he truly was. He was caring, a dancer, and loved to laugh (our little comedian). Ilan did not mind letting anyone know that he was in the room by using some of his favorite phrases such as “Yeah!”, “Hey!”, “Hello!”, “Haaaaaalelujah!”, and his favorite of all time “Maaaaaaaa!”. He enjoyed singing his ABCs, counting, and singing The Itsy-Bitsy Spider. Ilan was such a beautiful spirit and had a smile that was completely contagious. However, after having been intubated three times he was diagnosed with another progressive illness called Guillain-Barre’ syndrome of which the immune system attacks the nerves. He began treatment, however, several months after his health began to decline and he had to be intubated two more times within six weeks. Ilan was a fighter and he fought Dravets Syndrome (Epilepsy) and Guillain-Barre’ syndrome bravely, but God won and Ilan’s purpose was fulfilled.

He leaves to cherish his mother India Guerin Mason, father Alvin Eames, loving brother Jonah Guerin, and a very special cousin and his DSW Markayla Green. He also leaves to cherish, great grand parents Kirby and Wilda Guerin, Grandmothers Bertha Mason Joseph, Lisa Saucer, and Pamela Dillon. Grandfathers Raymond Hunt (Shirley), Michael Saucer, and Alvin Jackson. His paternal siblings Kelsey Eames, Alvin Johnson, and Tracyla Johnson. His uncles Reginald Mason (Schiwand), Raymond Hunt, Timothy Dillon jr., and Timon Dillon (Jennifer). His Aunts Jasmine Terry (Jamal), Jennifer Augustus, and Timesha Dillon. He also leaves to cherish his godmother Ernestine Baskin, and Godparents Willie and Natasha Felton. His god siblings Ron Clark jr., Byron, David, Madison, McKenzie, and a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins, family, and friends.

Ilan is being welcomed into the kingdom by Grandfathers Roger Joseph and Timothy Dillon Sr., Great Uncles Sgt. Master Willie Lee Mason, Jay Lee Mason Sr., Roger Mason, Marshall Mason, Kirby Guerin Jr., John Michael Guerin, Great Aunt Ora Lee Mason, and Cousin Reginald Mason Jr.
