Hazel Scivicque Price, 95 of Baton Rouge passed away on February 4, 2023 following a brief hospitalization at Baton Rouge General Hospital. She was born on October 24, 1927 and grew up in Whitehall, Louisiana, one of five children. Hazel met her beloved husband, Ed Price while working together as young adults, married and had four children. They were married for 64 years. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ronnie (Teresa) Price, Jim (Judy) Price, Peggy (Ron) Jervey and Sarah (Bryant) Thibodeaux and her sister Yvette (Clarence) Berthelot. Her nine surviving grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and multiple step-grandchildren, along with her children were the greatest joy in her life. Ed and Hazel raised their family while building several successful businesses in Baton Rouge, the final one being Ed Price Building Materials. They worked side-by-side throughout their marriage, along with their adult children and ended their long, successful business careers with the sale of Ed Price Building Materials in 2007. Their retirement was spent enjoying their family and entertaining at the beach. Hazel had a smile for all she met, always had interest in those around her and was the most loving mother, grandmother and friend. Her cooking was legendary and her sweet nature was shared with all she encountered. She had a unique ability to embrace each person in her life with joy and love, living her Catholic faith each day through her relationships. Her time spent at Lake Sherwood Retirement Village brought new friendships and activities into her life, including hand-bell choir.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed Price; her grandson, Joshua Price; her parents, Alfred and Louise Scivicque; and numerous other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
