"Your painful days are over, Your restless nights have passed, God took you in His arms and whispered: Peace at last." A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Westover Plantation in Port Allen, she died at The Carpenter House on April 2, at the age of 95. She was a Registered Nurse and retired from Exxon-Mobil in 1973. She is survived by a daughter, Frances Zillen of Baton Rouge; a daughter-in-law, Claire Yates Guidry of Lafayette; three grandchildren and their spouses, Angela Levert and husband Corey of Denham Springs, Tammy Baker and husband Trey from Prairieville, and Ashlie Latiolais and husband Matt of Lafayette; great-grandchildren, Hunter Galtier, Wes Baker, Ashton Baker, Brendan Copeland and Hazel Latiolais; two sisters, Dolores Simoneaux of Baton Rouge and Inez "Kitty" Alford of Denham Springs; one brother, Richard "Jake" Burns of Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Davis Chapman; a son, Bert A. Yates, Jr.; parents Willoughby and Inez Burns; brothers, John Burns, Willoughby Burns, Jr., Charles Burns, Elmore "Blutch" Burns and Joseph Burns; and sisters, Mildred Bellinger, Rita Bernard, Josie Pace and Rosalie Arboneaux. Pallbearers will be Donald Alford, Jake Burns, Trey Baker, Corey Levert, Hunter Galtier, and Karl "Bubba" Guidry. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 4, at St. Louis King of France Church beginning 12:30 p.m. until Mass of Christian burial at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Joseph's Hospice, The Carpenter House, or your favorite charity.
