Gloria Hernandez Barrow, a native of Donaldsonville and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011. at age 87. Mrs. Barrow was a retired school bus driver for the East Baton Rouge Parish school system. Gloria will be dearly missed by all and was known for her religious devotion and charitable works. Visiting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 1 p.m. until funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Essie M. Barrow, Rena Barrow Stevens, and Helen Dedon and husband Jeff Dedon; a son, Gerard Joseph Barrow; six grandchildren, Shawn Meliet Wilkerson, Devin Paul Meliet, Brandon Michael Stevens, Jonathan L. Stevens, Taylor M. Dedon and Austin M. Dedon; four great-grandchildren, Joe David, Emily, Mitch and Timothy Wilkerson; and a sister, Essie H. Pizzalato. Preceded in death by her husband, Ervin P. Barrow; and son, Clifton James Barrow. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care given Mrs. Barrow by Hospice in His Care, and Darlene Rayborn, Karen Milton and Rosetta "Doty" Augustine. Mrs. Barrow's last words of advice to her family and friends were, "Prayer is one of the most valuable things in life "¦ remember to pray."
