Gene Thomas Wilson, 75, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Gene was a graduate of Istrouma High School. He retired from Albemarle Corporation. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed bass fishing, coaching, playing and watching sports. Gene’s favorite team to watch was LSU Baseball. His greatest pride was his two grandchildren, Julia and Jacob.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Julie Wilson and Patrick Mumme; two grandchildren, Jacob and Julia Mumme; one brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Charlene Wilson; two nieces, Kim and Kristi Wilson; and one nephew, Marty Wilson.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lois Pool Hughes and Herman Wilson; one brother, Jimmie Wilson.
A memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 9:00 a.m. until service at 12:00 p.m. at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, La. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
