Frances "Dottie" Horton, beloved daughter, mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at her home in Baker. She was 62 and a native of Shreveport. Dottie was employed by J.E. Merit as a data tech at Dow Chemical in Plaquemine. She is survived by her father and mother, Peter R. Rumfola and Freddie Slocum Rumfola; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Steve Ring; and two grandchildren who were the love of her life, Chase and Callie. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, on Monday, Aug. 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes on Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. until religious service in the funeral home chapel at noon. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Greenoaks Reception Center. Dottie was devoted to her family and friends, and enjoyed nothing more than going out to eat with her parents, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. They all attended Healing Place Church together. Her generosity to everyone she met was legendary. A graduate of Glen Oaks High School, Dottie was an avid softball player from age 6, and she was a member of the 1964 State Softball Championship team. Her love of softball continued throughout her adult life and she played in the 2005 Senior Olympics, where her team won the bronze medal.
