Eugene Sims, Sr. born on August 16, 1927 was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was 89 years old.
He started his life in the state of Tennessee moving to Kenner Louisiana in 1932. As a young man, he had a passion to serve his country and started his military career as a merchant marine. Soon after graduating from Kenner High School in 1946, upon returning, married his high school sweet heart Claire B. Heidenrich. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Army. He now has the great honor of being listed as a veteran of WWII.
He later worked and retired from Borden Chemical and had a passion for golf and spent a large part of his life in his shop working on his many wood creations.
He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He spent 60 great years of his life alongside his wife, Claire Barbara Sims, who preceded him in death. Also preceded in death by his father, Horace Sims; mother, Eunice Sims; three brothers, Eulous ,Leon, and Evon Sims; two sisters, Mary Frank and Mayfair; daughter, Darlene Parker, and grandson Jamie Parker.
He was survived by his two sons and daughter-in- law, Eugene and Shauna Sims, Jr, and Michael and Cristi Sims; brother in law Ronnie Heidenrich seven grandchildren, Damon Sims, Tessa Sims Mahler, Chase Sims, Zachary Sims, Joshua Sims, Andrew Sims, and Katelyn Sims; and seven great grandchildren, Alyse, Kinsey and Gavin Mahler, Cannon Dykes, and Cole and Reece Sims. A special nephew Nelson Bennfield and L. J Sims and a host of nieces and nephews
