Elsie Honeycutt slipped quietly into the arms of Jesus on April 18th, 2025, at the Butterfly Wing at the Baton Rouge General Mid City. Elsie was a beloved educator and guidance counselor at Christian Life Academy from 1981 until 2017. Elsie’s two greatest loves in life was helping her students plan their futures and sharing her love of Jesus. She received two Master’s Degrees, one in religious studies and the other in education from LSU. She was a proud Tiger graduate and fan. Elsie loved cheering on the LSU Women’s Basketball. When she wasn’t cheering for the Tigers, Elsie was cheering for all of the Christian Life Academy athletic teams. Elsie was an avid fisher woman, had many stories of her recent catches, and many Thibodeaux and Boudreaux jokes.
Elsie is survived by her niece, Julie E. Burton; nephew, David Burton; great nieces and nephews, Brett-Ashley Hammerl, Andrew Cockerham, Loren Burton, Myles Burton, and Bronwyn Burton; and numerous great great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by parents, Wood H. Honeycutt and Elnora Honeycutt; and sister, Linda K. Honeycutt.
Service will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815 on Saturday April 26th. Visitation will begin at 12pm with a Memorial service to begin at 2pm.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Penny and Elsie's numerous friends for their loving care in her final days.
