Elaine was born on January 10, 1936, in Blakely, Pennsylvania to John Joseph and Tillie (Sabat) Obrzut. She was raised in Binghamton, New York and graduated from Cornell University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She was proud of her alma mater and her affiliation with Sigma Kappa sorority. She married Vincent Barry Coyle and together they lived in Springfield, Illinois, New Orleans and Monroe, Louisiana where he served as a special agent of the FBI.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Vincent Coyle, children Valerie Coyle and Christopher Coyle, parents John and Tillie Obrzut.
She is survived by her children Nancy Hardwick, Tommy Coyle (Donna), Kathryn Lewis (Ron), and Carol Regan (Leo); and six grandchildren Hunter and Vincent “Alex” Hardwick of Dallas, TX, Tripp Lewis (Mary Margaret) of Houston, TX, Natalie Lewis Eischen (Nick), AnnaClaire and Rhymes Regan; and beloved great-granddaughter, Cecelia Eischen, all of Baton Rouge, LA.
We will cherish memories of “Grama” making pierogies at Christmastime, her favorite holiday. She loved birthdays as well and always made sure everyone had a cake to celebrate.
Visitation will take place at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 11:00 am. followed by a Mass of the Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Private burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial. All are welcome to gather at the Regan’s residence to celebrate her life.
