Doris Wilkinson Brabham Brecheen passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge. She was a native of Liberty, Miss., and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. She retired from the departments of Revenue and Transportation and the law firm of Thomas E. Gibbs. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Baton Rouge and a former phone counselor for the Stop Rape Crisis Center. She is survived by two daughters, Latitia "Tish" Brabham Cockerham and husband Tommy A. Cockerham Jr., and Leslie Doris Brecheen and friend Russ Taylor; a son and daughter-in-law, William E. "Rusty" Brecheen and Kim Henagan Brecheen; a stepson, Fred L. "Bud" Brecheen; three grandchildren, Tiffany Brabham and Michelle Brabham, both of Baton Rouge, and Tommy Cockerham III of Lincoln, Mont.; a great-grandson, Tommy A. Cockerham IV, of 29 Palms, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Wilkinson Holloway and husband Dan; brother, Horace Wilkinson and wife Annie; a longtime loyal friend, Margie McCaa-Noto; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Horace Eugene and Nora Foreman Wilkinson, who were of Liberty; husbands, Bonness Orland Brabham Sr. and Leslie Eldred Brecheen; son, Bonness Orland Brabham Jr.; grandson, Bryan Blake Brecheen; sisters, Annie Grace Wilkinson, Gladys Green and Ada Hoyte Toler; and brothers, Joe Wilkinson, Hewitte Wilkinson, Carl Wilkinson, Soule Wilkinson and Bobby Noel "Pete" Wilkinson. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Jan. 4, from 9 a.m. until services at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Billy Green. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, which provided exceptional and loving care to Doris.
