
A retired electrical engineer and a resident of Houma, he died from an extended illness at 11:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Lakewood Quarters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Baton Rouge. He was 60 and a native of New Orleans. Visiting at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Kenner, on Tuesday, April 20, from 10:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, celebrated by the Rev. Richard M. Miles. Entombment in St. Charles Borromeo Church Mausoleum, Destrehan. Don is survived by his mother, Grace Mandella Cordell; two daughters, Amy Katherine Mangano and husband John Mangano Jr., of Denham Springs, and Mindy Ann Cordell and husband Antonio Martin, of Mandeville; a son, Daniel Carl Cordell, of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Dale Cordell and family friend Chrys Staiger and Cynthia Melancon and husband Donald; a brother, David Cordell and wife Karen; and three grandchildren, Dylan Martin, Ava Martin and Sophia Mangano. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patti Martin Cordell; and father, O.E. "Gene" Cordell. Don received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and was the founder and former co-owner of Perfco Wireline Services in Houma. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his camp in Grand Isle. In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred. Arrangements by Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Baton Rouge.
