The earthly journey of David Jack Brumfield ended Monday, February 13, 2023 surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on September 16, 1959, David spent his youth fishing, playing football, and spending time with his family. After graduating Istrouma High School in 1977, David followed in his father's footsteps and began a 20 year long career with Shell Chemical in Geismar, Louisiana at what is known as the “Tebone” plant. From there he continued this career for another decade with Enterprise Products. After retirement, David spent his time with those that meant the most to him. He was an avid woodworker, and fantastic cook, always willing to go the extra mile for a project or feed anyone who would eat. His favorite pastime was fishing with his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially to the beach. David’s love for God and people led him to Healing Place Church where he formed lifelong friendships.
David's love for his family was unconditional. He is survived by his wife Janet Brumfield, mother Marlene Brumfield, oldest son Christopher Brumfield and fiance Sarah, daughter Sarah Brumfield, youngest son Jack Brumfield and wife Sadie, stepdaughter Melissa Barker and husband Larry, stepdaughter Lauren Waldrop and fiancé Jed. His grandchildren were the light of his life and “Pawpaw David” loved each one: Addison Claire, Laney Katherine, Porter Louis, Heidi Ann, Jesse David, Marie Elise, Nathaniel James, Oliver Jonas, and Simon Joseph. He is also survived by his sisters DiAnne Haddox and husband Kinny, and Nancy Parker and husband Chris, as well as nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly.
David is preceded in death by his father, best friend, and role model, Jack La’Fay Brumfield.
Services celebrating David's life will be held Thursday, February 16th at Household of Faith Church, 10469 Airline Highway, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 with the service starting at 10:30.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you would consider donating to a cause that was very special to David, the New Beginnings Ministry of Healing Place Church.
