A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011, at his home in Baton Rouge. Clifton, a native of Vacherie, was a retired home builder, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Clifton is survived by his wife of 69 years, Adela O. Chenier; daughter, Virginia Chenier Case; three grandchildren, Dana Dayries and husband David, Holly Waters Archibald, and Brad Waters and wife Charmin; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicolette and Zane Waters, Evan Dayries and Cliff LeBlanc; a great-great-grandchild, Hayden LeBlanc; and special family, Cheryl and Leonie LeBlanc. Clifton was preceded in death by his father, Elphege Chenier; mother, Annette Brock Chenier; three brothers, Clinsey, Elphege and Harris Chenier; sister, Althea Chenier Steib; and son-in-law, Robert Case. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, June 5, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home Monday, June 6, from 8 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Clarence Waguespack. Interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Clifton was a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Brad Waters, Dean Folse, Zane Waters, Cliff LeBlanc, Warren Boudreaux and David Dayries. Special thanks to Dr. Laura Falcon, Dr. Mike Davis, Dr. Fred Petty and Dr. James Calvin.
