Carolyn was married to the love of her life, Albert Pardue, for 68 years before he passed in 2013.
Carolyn was a loving mother of the late Debbie (Pardue) Johnston, her husband Ricky Johnston, and her son Donald Pardue and wife Sandra Pardue. Her grandchildren include Dana (Pardue) Salisbury and her husband Bruce Salisbury, Erick Johnston and his wife Candice Johnston, and Kimberly Johnston. Great-grandchildren include Anna and Emma Salisbury, Kaden, Isabella, Preston, Hollis Johnston, and Sophia Johnston.
Carolyn led by example and was a woman of action and never complained. This proved true through her devotion to her family, work, church, and philanthropic efforts. She played the piano at Foster Road Baptist Church for over 30 years. She retired from the LA State Highway Department, and during her retirement years, she was a volunteer at the Baton Rouge General in Midcity Baton Rouge.
Five years ago, she shared her best memories as a child, “my life has gone by so fast, but the memories I love most are with my daddy.” She shared his kindness, attentiveness, and love for his family. Carolyn fondly recalled raiding the candy aisle in her parent’s local store after school as a little girl.
Her family will cherish her memory in light of her strong will, perseverance, and love of hot coffee and green olives.
The family sends a special thanks to her primary caregivers and supporters Donald Pardue, Julie, and the Griswold Home Care team, nurses Nicole, Susan and all of Heart of Hospice, Ricky Johnston, and many other family and friends.
Carolyn’s intimate burial service was held Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
