Petty Officer Second Class Brandon Jay Stone served in Afghanistan. He was born in Baton Rouge in 1986 and lived in southwest Colorado for 16 years before returning to Baton Rouge in 2003, where he attended Central High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2007. He was awarded many honors, including the Cavalry Combat Spurs and Army Commendation Medal. He was stationed in Norfolk, Va., when he passed away. Survived by his mother, Pat Stone, of Central; father and stepmother, Charlie and Cathy Stone, of Sedalia, Colo.; brothers, Eric, of Monroeville, Pa., and Brian Stone, of Dallas; sister, Kelli Stone Gooch, of Dallas; two nieces, two nephews and many family members who will miss him greatly.
