Bonnie Walker Holliday passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, she was the Salutatorian of her graduating class at St. Joseph’s Academy before attending Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL. She later graduated from Louisiana State University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. In addition to being an award-winning painter in college and beyond, she went on to a career in journalism, which included her popular column, “Quid Nunc,” in “The Catholic Commentator” newspaper of Baton Rouge. She would later retire after a 30-year career as a realtor. A past-President and longtime member of the Inner Wheel Club of Baton Rouge, she was a key organizer of their annual “Trash and Treasure” sale for many years, benefitting local charities and scholarship programs. Along with her husband, she was a member of the La Fiesta Dance Club and a supper club with friends. Always an avid reader, she was an active member of the Morning Mimosa Book Club. She was best known as an extremely talented cook, and published her own cookbook for family and close friends which is still a coveted recipe collection today. In addition to cooking, she loved entertaining, and her annual Christmas Eve Open House was a beloved holiday tradition for so many people. She is survived by her husband, James Sidney “Jimmy” Holliday, Jr, and her children from her first marriage to William Thomas “Bill” Heflin: William Thomas “Tommy” Heflin, Jr. of Galliano, LA, Colonel (USAF) Kristin Heflin McCoy (Jason) of Powell, OH, and Kendall Heflin Holderith (Tom) of Baton Rouge, and her step-children: Stephen James Holliday (Hollea) of Baton Rouge, Laurie Holliday Hoyland (Doc) of Marietta, GA, Amy Holliday Leggat (Mike) of Charlotte, NC, and Jennie Holliday Braselton (Dude) of Indiatlantic, FL; sisters Mrs. Myrna Walker Hall of Providence, RI, Mrs. Susan Walker Levasseur (Alain) of St. Francisville, Dr. Mary Wendell “Wendy” Walker Schofield (Dr. Carl Schofield), of Franklin, TN, and brother Mr. Myron Andrew “Mike” Walker, Jr. (Rebecca) of Baton Rouge, and 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Myron Andrew Walker, Sr. Visitation will be Friday, June 25, 2021, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with visitation continuing Saturday, Jun 26, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
