Our beloved mother passed away in her home after a short battle with cancer. She died at 1:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2009. She was 81, born on Aug. 29, 1927. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her favorite hobbies were her love of cooking for her family, dancing, fishing and nickel slot machines. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Ginger Butler, of Clinton; daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Roger Kirby, of Central, and Vickie and Johnnie Seal, of Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Marsaline Bourgeois and brother, William Butch Lovett. Preceded in death by husband, Leslie L. Babin; father, Colbert Alexander; mother and stepfather, Thelma and William "Bill" Lovett; three brothers; two sisters; and grandson, Brian Perry. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, Jan. 21, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visiting at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, on Thursday, from noon until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Jimmy and Ryan Butler, Dallas Bird, Warren Kron Jr., Primo and Dominic Nardi, and brother, William Butch Lovett.
