Barbara ~ a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother ~ passed away peacefully on December 2nd at the age of 85. Born on July 24th in Simmesport, Louisiana she lived a full life with love and laughter. She found joy in the little things — happy hours with her beloved pets and the thrill of a lucky spin at the casino.
She is survived by three children ~ Stephanie, Art Jr. (deceased) and Cyndi ~ who will continue to honor her legacy. Also, six grandchildren - Gabriel Mitchell (Kristen), Kim Jones, Arthur Soma (Whitney), Amy Jones, Angela Baldwin (Andrew), Ashley Mitchell and 10 great grandchildren. She is reunited in peace with her husband, Arthur J. Mitchell, Sr.
In her later years, Mom was blessed with compassionate caregivers who became like family. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to all of them for their unwavering kindness, support, and love.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday December 10th at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, downtown Baton Rouge. Visitation 9am until the funeral service at 11am followed by the graveside service at 2:30 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church Cemetery, 657 Main St. Simmesport LA.
