Surrounded by her loving family, Angie Raye Caruso Ruiz Wilson, 85, of Baton Rouge, passed away on July 18, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. Angie Raye was born on March 11, 1938, to Mary and Joseph Caruso, Jr. in Baton Rouge. She attended St. Agnes Elementary School and graduated from St. Anthony Catholic High School in 1956. She was a voracious reader, oftentimes consuming 3 books per week on her Kindle. Her happy place was daily visits to the local coffee shops where the baristas greeted her with free coffee delivered to her “reserved” chair. Although shy and reserved, she had the unique ability to quickly garner love from all who met her. Second only to her books was her love of music - specifically Tom Jones and Barry Manilow which could be heard at loud volumes as she drove up your driveway. She is survived by her devoted children, Keith (Karen) Ruiz, Melanie (Tommy) LaPorte, and Kerry (Paula) Ruiz. She is also survived by grandchildren Abby (Mark) Caponegro, Anna (Jeremy) Elrod, Rachel LaPorte, and Rebecca (Michael) Murray and great grandchildren, George, Arthur and Mary June Caponegro, John Henry Elrod and Maxwell Murray. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Lofaso Miceli and Joseph Caruso, her sister and partner in crime, Joanne Politz, and her husbands Edgar Ruiz, Jr. and James W. Wilson. Special thanks to the staff at CC’s Coffee on Jefferson Highway for their love and kindness to her each day. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at St. George Catholic Church. Visitation will be at St. George from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian burial celebrated by Fr. Matthew Lorrain will begin at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow immediately in St. George Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Caponegro, Jeremy Elrod, Bradley Miller, Michael Murray, Joey Politz, and Aaron Schouest. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul, or the charity of your choice. Rabenhorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
