Rosemond Alfred “Al” Arceneaux, Jr., a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at St. James Place at age 72. He was born in Welsh, LA, on March 11, 1939. He attended LSU and went on to a career with Waskey Bridges, a Louisiana-based precast concrete company. In 2000, he retired as owner of Waskey after 42 years. Al was a long-time member and supporter of Bocage Racquet Club, and past president of Gulf South Prestress Concrete Association. Al was a pilot and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and duck hunting and was a member of Section 14 duck hunting club. He is survived by his wife, Kay Crossland Arceneaux; daughter Annette Burton, son-in-law Tim Burton, three sons John Arceneaux, Brian Arceneaux and wife Kathy, Michael Arceneaux and wife Tara; siblings, Roger Arceneaux and wife Jocelyn of Crowley, Dianne Prejean and husband Phil of Baldwin, Thomas Arceneaux of Jennings, Kathleen LeBlanc and husband Gerald of Lake Arthur, Francis Arceneaux of Welsh, Louis Arceneaux of DeRidder, Pierre Arceneaux and wife Jan of Welsh, Jean Robert Arceneaux of Lafayette, 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosemond Alfred Arceneaux, Sr. and Arzella Davis Arceneaux; and his brother Adrian Arceneaux. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 1pm until time of services at 2pm. Rev. Jack Jung will be presiding over the services. Entombment will immediately follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be sons, John, Brian, and Michael Arceneaux, and grandsons Justin Arceneaux, Stephen Arceneaux, and Brandon Lee. The family extends special thanks to his faithful caregivers at St. James Place, especially Liz Bittle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Al’s honor to The Armed Forces Foundation, 16 North Carolina Avenue, SE Washington, DC 20003 or your charity of choice.
