He served in the US Navy and Naval Choir during World War II after graduating from Mississippi College. Known for his positive outlook, radiant smile and infectious laugh, JR always had time to share a joke, a story or the latest news. He never met a stranger and his zest for life was reflected in his diverse interests including entertainment, travel, sports, Cadillacs and playing the odds in the stock market as well as on the poker or dice tables.
JR loved his family dearly and is survived by his loving wife Bobbie of over 44 years, five children (Jim, Debbie, Ann, Beth, Haley), six grandchildren (Lisa, Michael, Steve, Dave, Mike, Amy) and four great grandchildren (Miles, Lyla, Ben, Evie). His devoted family will always remain a legacy to a life well lived.
