William David Cooley

Mr. William David “Dave” Cooley, age 76 of Bassett, VA, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. Dave was born on May 17, 1943 in Eckman, W. VA., a son of the late James Edward Cooley and the late Maggie Gerthie Owens Cooley. He was employed by Stanley Furniture for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Bassett Volunteer Fire Department and a past member of the Bassett Rescue Squad.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Henry Clay Cooley, Floyd Andrew Cooley, Earsten Eugene Cooley and Thomas Harry Cooley. Dave is survived by his wife, Jone Lyons Cooley, one daughter, Brenda Gail Shively and husband, Ricky, one son, William David Cooley, Jr., One sister, Mary C. Tawney and husband, Joey, four brothers, James E. Cooley, Jr., Frank Cooley, Charles Ray Cooley, Robert Lee Cooley, Grandchildren, Kristin Nicole Evans, Kaitlin Grace Meadows, Madeline Jade Cooley, one great grandchild, Gavin Edward Evans and his pet, Ramey.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett, VA with the Reverend Scott Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, June 28, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Bassett Volunteer Fire Department, 3735 Fairystone Park Hwy, Bassett, VA 24055 or to the Bassett Rescue Squad, 1950 Riverside Drive, Bassett, VA 24055
