Jack was born Sept. 9, 1940 in Franklin County, VA, the middle son of the late Grady “Buster” Prillaman and Nancy Jarrett Prillaman. He married Edna Stanley Prillaman on June 11, 1960. They were married for 42 years until her passing in 2002. He was also preceded in death by a brother Eddie Prillaman and his son Jeffrey D. Prillaman. Jack and Edna had 3 children and were very proud of their family.
Surviving are daughters: Lisa Prillaman of Cary, NC and Cindy Prillaman Hall and husband Jud, granddaughter Madison Hall all of Ellijay, GA; brother Dan Prillaman and wife Freda of Ridgeway, VA, two nieces, one nephew, one great niece and four great nephews.
Jack worked in the printing industry his entire career and was employed by Soabar Graphics in Greensboro, NC, for twenty years. He later moved to Georgia where he started his own business Peachtree Tag & Label with Pat Moriarty, and later Winder Tag & Label with his son Jeff. Jack had a true entrepreneurial spirit. He trained many people in the trade over the course of his career, including his nephew, Shawn Prillaman.
Jack was a man of passion and had many interests. He spent his later years heavily involved in go karting and was loved and respected in the karting community for his knowledge, feisty manner, fast karts and willingness to help others succeed. To celebrate his life and passion, a memorial race will be held in his honor at Riverside Raceway Park in Mayodan, NC on September 19, 2014. Providence Raceway in Henry, VA is also planning a memorial event to be announced.
The funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Collins Funeral Home, Riverside Dr., Bassett, VA. The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2 P.M. prior to the service.
