Emily Martin Smith

Born in Bassett November 14, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Russell Martin and Mary Frances Draper Martin. Also preceding her in death was her husband Clyde Franklin Smith, a son Ronald C. Smith, and her brother Charles (Bill) Martin.

Emily was a graduate of Bassett High School and Perry Business School, and retired from Bassett Mirror Company after 38 years of service as the credit manager. She was a long time member of Fort Trial Christian Church where she served as the pianist for 60 years.

Surviving are her son Joseph F. Smith and his wife Susan of Collinsville, three sisters, Zelma Conner of Martinsville, and Nancy Harrington and Alice Mayhew both of Bassett, and her grandson Sam Smith.

The funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, April 28, 2014, at Fort Trial Christian Church with Minister Lawrence Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
