Delene G Hodnett

Delene Faye Goad Hodnett, age 83 , surrounded by family members passed away at her home on October 13, 2024. Delene was born in Willis, Floyd County, Virginia on Buffalo Mountain on May 10, 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Gordon Hodnett, her parents, Everette McKinley Goad and Nora Ethel Marshall Goad, brothers, Larry Leon Goad and Ronnie Hasten Goad.

Delene graduated from Willis High School in Willis, Floyd County, Virginia. Afterwards she attended Radford University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Science of Education in 1962. She taught elementary school specializing in special education for over 30 years in Henry County, Virginia. Shortly after moving to Henry County, she married Clarence Gordon Hodnett. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were married for 49 years where they had 3 daughters and 2 sons and 10 grandchildren. Delene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings and positions in the church. She loved antiques, old homes, teaching school, needlework and being at home with her family. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Delene loved visiting with everyone and was very quick witted and had a great sense of humor. She had a strong faith in her heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. She lived her life to the best abilities based on gospel principles she learned and loved. May God be with you till we meet again.

Delene is survived by her children, Everette Lee Hodnett, Tara Hodnett Koldewyn, Gordon Thomas Hodnett, Julia Hodnett Lang and Celena Hodnett Haynes. Grandchildren, Jaxon, Annamarie, Porter, Alexander, Mahala, Brigham, Jules, Claire, David and Henry. Her siblings, Clovie Goad Shockley, Paul McKinley Goad and Christine Gaye Goad.

Public viewing for Mrs. Hodnett will be on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
