Bedford Martin

Bedford Martin, age 90, of Fieldale, Virginia, passed away at his home on June 12th, 2023.Bedford was born on February 27th, 1933 to Raleigh and Earlie Martin in Hillsville, Virginia. He was the 8th of 14 children and their second son. He proudly served in the U.S Navy for four years during which time he met his wife Nora Sowers. They married in 1958 and moved to Henry County. Since retirement, Bedford enjoyed spending time in his garden and working in the yard. He was known by everyone to be extremely hardworking and caring. He is survived by His wife Nora and his siblings Frances Dalton and Fred Martin. As well as his sons, Virgil Martin (Teresa) and Marcus Martin. Three grandchildren, Alex, Jake and Emma. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank neighbors, friends, family and all of the Hospice staff for their kindness, thoughts and prayers during his illness and this difficult time. Graveside Services will be held at Roselawn Burial Park on Thursday June 15th, 2023 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Amedisys Hospice 5221 Valley Park Drive, Suite 2, Roanoke VA 24019.
