She was born May 11, 1931 to Roland and Elsie (Demmin) Hillig. She married Allan D. Love on July 29, 1949 in Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1986 in Peoria.
She was a graduate of Manual High School and was employed by Traveler’s Insurance and Caterpillar Inc., with many years spent as a stay-at-home mother which by far was her biggest accomplishment. She was an active volunteer for her daughters’ activities at school and in the community, most notably serving as a founding member of Bartonville Femmes Unir. She returned to work and retired from Caterpillar in 1990. She became active in Caterpillar Retirees, the Bartonville American Legion, and continued with various community volunteer activities. Marilyn was a very proud grandparent and never missed a school program, concert, recital, or sporting event. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Bartonville.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Kimberley (John) Dooley of Bartonville and Melodee (Randy) Nau of Glasford. Also surviving are her grandchildren Cole (Sarah) Dooley of Gainesville, FL, Wade Dooley of New York, NY, Jason (Kaci) Nau of Glasford, and Mallory (Riley) Strawn of Princeville. She also leaves behind her five great-grandchildren: Phoebe Dooley, Parker, Cooper, and Turner Nau, and T. Love Strawn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, Roland and Richard “Bud” Hillig.
Marilyn will be remembered for her fun spirit, love for a good card game, love of “roaming” with her daughters looking for bargains, and treating her children and grandchildren to some outstanding memories on family vacations together.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10:30 am April 4, 2018 at Bethel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard Hanson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 pm until 7 pm Tuesday at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel and 30 minutes prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bartonville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Phoebe Louise Dooley Foundation at 14260 W. Newberry Rd, #196, Newberry, FL 32669.
