She was born on August 28, 1941 in Otwell, Indiana to Walter and Alma Potts. She married Eugene Knott on Feb 24, 1962. He preceded her in death after 42 years of marriage.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; daughter, Shelly Jean Knott; grandson, Cody Knott; five sisters and two brothers.
Esther is survived by her children, Donna (Bill) James, Ann Knott, and David Knott; grandchildren, Norman James, Ryan (Kelly) James, Nathan Ramer, Heather Ramer, Phalynn Ramer, Corey (Tabitha) Knott, Hannah (Cody) Knott; great-grandchildren, Austin (Whitney) Sherwood, Ashlyn Gent, Adelyn James, Alayna James, Angie Cotton, Ashton Knott, and Kolten Ramer; great-great-grandson, Braxton Sherwood; two brothers, one sister, and several nieces and nephews.
Esther worked as an in home licensed daycare provider for 35 plus years, and was a member of Eagle Lodge 265, Zion Lutheran Church and Peoria Area Blind People's Center.
She loved being a daycare provider, but more than that she loved being a mom, grandma and granny. She always made sure they had that quarter for popcorn or taffy apple day, the means for that field trip, the final payment for that class ring.
In spite of her visual impairment, Esther lived life to the fullest. A night at the tavern with Gene having a beer, with a shake of salt, and dancing with friends made her happy. She also enjoyed bowling on the Peoria Area League for the blind and partially sited.
Her greatest joy was her grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandson. They were her life!
Esther's graveside service will be held at Lutheran Cemetery on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to AC Lifepoints - Timber Ridge in Morton and SAMS (Stray Animal Midway Shelter) in Hanna City.
