Michael Wendler

Mike was born in Temple on August 25, 1957 to Logan and Betty Wendler. He graduated from Holland High School and continued on to receive a degree in Agricultural Management from Texas State Technical Institute. He married Virginia (Fulford) Wendler on September 15th, 2018; they were together for 14 years.

He worked as a rancher for his entire life. Mike enjoyed riding bikes, gambling, traveling, tinkering on the ranch, and spending time with his family most of all.

Mike is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Mark and Megan Wendler, Matt and Sara Wendler, Joy and Rudy Leming, and Charity and Chase Pfeifer; his mother, Betty Wendler; his sister Linda and husband Danny Hill; his grandchildren Trenton, Logan, MaKinley, Nova, Luna, Mason, and Atlas; his nieces and nephews Will, Shawn, Logan, JaCee, Jackie, Mitchell and their families; and other family and friends. Mike is preceded in death by his father, Logan Wendler, and his brother Leonard Wendler.

Mike was an irreplaceable husband, father, step-father, son, “Papa”, brother, uncle, and friend. Many who knew him would call Mike their best friend and all would describe him as “a good man”. He had a great influence over the lives of many people with his patient advice and consistent friendship. Everyone will remember Mike for his smile and kindness; that spirit lives on in all who knew him, but especially in his family and his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Mike went to be with the Lord doing what he loved, working the land, and that’s the best any of us could hope for. He may not have always expressed his love for his family with his words, but rather his love was tangible. He will be remembered by his sons as: “My dad, my buddy, my role model.” Our greatest blessing is knowing that Mike knew the Lord, and we will all be together again. “And Jesus said to him, ‘Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Luke 23:43

This is not goodbye, it’s “Until we see you again.”

A visitation for Michael will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Goodnight Funeral Home, Bartlett, Texas. A graveside service will occur Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Holland Cemetery, Holland, TX.

Michael will be laid to rest in Holland Cemetery, Holland, TX.
