Our sweet mother, Shirley Clinton Ballo has passed away on November 5th, 2023 at the age of 89, due to a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Shirley’s dear husband, Franklin Thomas Ballo, precedes her in death, April 7, 1997.
Shirley leaves her daughters: Mary Elizabeth Powell of Atlanta, GA and three grandchildren, Jeremy Powell (Lauren), Andrew Powell (Jena) and grandchildren, Matilda and Liz Johnston (Zach); daughter Cathy Ray, and grandsons, Nick Ray (Andie), great-grandchildren, Anna, Judah, and Jared Ray; daughter Jill Ballo, granddaughter Lauren Watts (Curtis) and great-grandchildren Grant, Trent and Alayna; daughter Angie Cooper (Greg), grandchildren Shelby and Jackson Cooper (Ashlee) and great-grandson Parker.
Shirley also leaves her beloved brother George Clinton (Bernice), nephew, George, and niece Lori.
Shirley attended Park Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church from the age of 4. She was very active in the church choir and women’s ministry group. She loved music, playing piano, and writing poetry, cooking, cake decorating and was quite the seamstress!
She loved to travel, movies, and mostly family gatherings. She never met a stranger, everyone that met her, loved her.
Shirley will be deeply missed by all, but we restore in her journey into God’s Open Arms and her Great Reunion with all who have gone before her.
Until we see you again, we love you more!
