Born in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late John and Shirley Oakes, she was the wife of Frederick A. Johnson, who passed away in 2022. She was a member of Redemption Community Church in Bartlett, TN.
Sharon’s primary devotion in life was her family. Her favorite place was beside her husband, Fred, enjoying any kind of time they could be together. Rather than pursue a career, she spent her adult years loving her husband and children by caring for her household. Most recently, she took great pride in being the grandmother of seven, who remember her as Yaya.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Fred, and her sister, Shirley. She is survived by her sons, David Johnson (April) and Adam Johnson (Shawna); grandchildren, Juliana, Reese, Benjamin, Knox, Eliza, Ruby, and Haddon; her brother, John Oakes (Letha); and her sister, Lena Spears.
A visitation for Sharon will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, February 21, 2024 beginning at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Sharon’s name may be made to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes, The Ranch at Millington, 9224 Quito Rd., Millington, TN 38053.
