Robert Stewart Ervin was born May 13, 1961 to Robert "Bobby" Ervin (who preceded him in death) and Dorothy Hockey in Clarksdale, MS. He married his soul mate and life long love, Teresa Ervin on February 9, 1991 whom he spent 33 amazing years with. He lost his long time battle with health concerns on June 2, 2024.
Stewart had some of his favorite memories with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved all things sports related (especially Ole Miss), playing golf, cooking in his kitchen, and anything to do with animals. It has been said many times that he was a baby and animal whisperer.
Stewart was a giving man that loved the Lord. In the last few years of his life, he proudly told anyone and everyone about his journey. He humbly preached about the Lord's goodness and everything he overcame with the Lord by his side. He was always available to his friends and family if they were in need and was usually the one cracking jokes at any occasion. There was rarely a dull moment if he was around.
Stewart's favorite role in life was being a husband, father, and grandfather. His life goal was to ensure his wife's happiness at all times and always made sure she had everything she could need. It will always be remembered that he made sure she had a cup of coffee ready each morning and a note to start her day. He loved his children deeply and was so proud of each of their accomplishments. His grandchildren were a light in his life and many will say they kept him young.
He was a devoted and supportive father to his 2 daughters Brandi Murphy and husband Kyle, Sommer Palmer and husband Leland, and his 1 son Josh Ervin (who preceded him in death) and wife Samantha Bross, now married to Brad. He often spoke about how thankful he was to have added such amazing children in his life when his children chose their spouses.
Stewart was Pawpaw to 7 grandchildren- Kristina Ervin, Kaylie Ervin, Tenley Murphy, Adelyne Palmer, Noah Ervin, Barrett Murphy, and Lyle Palmer. The love he had for each of them was unmatched.
He is survived by 5 siblings- Tish Turner, Hal Ervin, Mike Lenser, Christine Brossette, and Debbie Filler- and countless relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life will be at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens at 2 pm, Sunday, June 9, 2024. Stewart requested that no one wears black- because this is not a goodbye, but a celebration.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, 848 Adams Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103.
