Richard E. Ryan passed away on December 7th, 2023 at his home in Cordova Tennessee after a year-long battle with cancer. Richard was born in St. Louis Missouri on December 21, 1946. He leaves behind his brothers Michael Ryan (Kay), Jay P. Cramin (Michele), and nieces and nephews Joseph Ryan, Deidra Ryan (Andrew Hutchings), Mary-Michael Ryan, Sarah-Catherine Formiller (Scott), Christopher Governal, Jacob Cramin and Franchescia Gingrich (Luke). He also leaves behind the many loving cousins and aunts in the Acquisto and Cramin families.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Richard F. Ryan, Grace Cramin (née Acquisto), and his father figure Paul Cramin.
Accompanied by his mother, Richard was a regular attendant at Sunday Mass at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bartlett TN.
Upon his mother’s death, he began regular attendance at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Cordova TN. Upon retirement from Mack’s Auto Parts in Lemay MO. and moving to Memphis, Richard took up designing and constructing intricate bird houses and then dollhouses for family and friends. He also loved working puzzles, especially with his dad Paul. Richard enjoyed spending time maintaining his vehicles in spotless condition and daily walks through the neighborhood making new friends along the way.
Richard was an avid fan of the St. Louis Blues, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Tennessee Titans. Perhaps what he enjoyed most were his trips to Tunica’s casinos in Mississippi, Southland Casino in Arkansas, or any other gaming spot where he could indulge in the “penny slots” or a hand of blackjack.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to either the Grace and Paul Cramin Scholarship, St. Joseph’s Institute for the Deaf, 1314 Strassner Dr., Brentwood MO 63144 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
